Comprehensive ADHD Evaluations

Insight‑driven assessments to understand strengths, challenges & next steps

Every person’s mind works differently. Our thorough ADHD evaluation helps you understand how you focus, think, and function — in school, at work, and in life. You’ll get clear answers and a customized plan to support success.

What is ADHD?

ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a Neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulse control, and executive functioning. Kids with ADHD may have trouble focusing in class, following directions, staying organized and/or regulating big feelings. These challenges often show up at school at home or in friendships

Who might benefit from an ADHD evaluation?

Evaluations are beneficial for children who are struggling in one or more academic areas, as well as children who have difficulty with social interactions and maintaining friendships.

An evaluation can help when children are struggling with emotional control and/or are experiencing behavioral difficulties in their home and school environments.  If your child or adolescent is having trouble completing assignments and exams, an evaluation can help determine whether there are accommodations and modifications that may help address these concerns.

3 signs your child may benefit from an assessment:

  1. Your child is struggling academically, and you feel the interventions school is providing are not effective, or your child is not making enough progress.

  2. Your child is having big emotions and having a hard time managing them.

  3. You’re hearing from your child’s teacher, and noticing they are struggling to pay attention, follow directions, and focus on tasks

What is the Evaluation Process?

Discover what’s beneath the struggle. Our evaluations dig deep to reveal the “why” behind challenges—turning confusion into clarity and paving the way for meaningful progress.

The evaluation process includes:

  • A parent intake meeting

  • A review of records

  • Communication with teachers

  • Two to three testing sessions

  • A parent feedback meeting

Who performs the ADHD Evaluation?

Hallie Malbin, Ph.D.

I conduct comprehensive evaluations, which provide information about a child/adolescent's strengths, weaknesses and current level of functioning.  Using the testing results, I develop meaningful recommendations and suggest helpful interventions and accommodations.

Through the evaluation process, my goal is to identify a child’s learning profile and determine what that child needs to be successful.  I also hope to empower parents so they can become advocates for their children.

I received my Doctorate in Educational Psychology from the Graduate Center at CUNY, and I earned a Masters Degree in School Psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University.  Prior to joining Mental Wellness Montclair, I worked for over fifteen years as an elementary school psychologist in Westchester County, New York.
